Duns Community Nursery is a not-for-profit nursery run by the community, for the community. We deliver home-from-home childcare for children aged 0 to 5 years old, from 7.30am to 6pm, including school holidays.

Saved by the Berwickshire community

In November 2022 we found out that the previous nursery in Duns was closing, knowing how important a nursery is to the community a group of staff and parents came together to create the Duns Community Nursery. The new nursery is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC) to ensure the local area will always have a dedicated childcare service for years to come. Being a community interest company is at the heart of everything we do and we will continually work hard to build our nursery with a strong family ethos and home-from-home feel.

Joining the Duns Community Nursey family

We make joining the family as simple as possible, with three easy steps:

Book a tour

Your Duns Community Nursery journey will start with a tour. You will meet with one of our management team, get an overview of what life is like at our nursery, as well as having plenty of time to ask all the questions you have.

Settling in sessions

After your tour around the nursery, you will be invited to book two settling in sessions. Your child can spend some time in their new playroom, and you can spend some time getting to know their new key team member.

Use our nursery app

Once your child starts with us, you will have access to the Famly App. This is updated throughout each day with details on meals, snacks, sleep and the different activities your child has been enjoying. This, combined with a thorough handover at the end of each day will keep you fully in the loop with life at nursery.
