Duns Community Nursery is a not-for-profit nursery run by a community of local parents and staff. We believe our children are at the heart of everything. By developing and encouraging the uniqueness of every child, ensuring their growth is about them and not employing a one size fits all approach. Providing a safe, warm space allows them to find themselves.

Our aims

To provide a safe and nurturing high quality nursery experience, where children are at the heart of everything that happens. Supporting and guiding their development of skills, confidence and self-esteem.
To encourage children to be active and to learn through play by providing an environment where they can thrive and learn to be who they want to be, while achieving their potential. This results in healthy growth, both physically and mentally.
To build secure and trusting relationships with children and their families, who are all respected as individuals, which will result in emotional, social, physical, spiritual and educational skills being developed.
To work together with local organisations to provide our children with a wider understanding of their local community. In doing so, celebrating diversity, appreciating and respecting the things that make each person unique.
To encourage social and communication skills by listening to the children and having their voices respected in the decisions of the nursery and including them in all aspects of the setting. Giving each child an opportunity to play active and responsible roles within our environment
